3 Kidneys ??

Things about me

Story time :

Crazy hey? and no this is not click bate.

Since I was a little girl I struggled a lot with bladder infections and my kidneys. For the last 5 years I started getting a lot sicker and started noticing that something was not right. I started going to different doctor to get antibiotics and get myself healed , but still I kept on getting sick and I was permanently on antibiotics which made me sick in other ways . We decided that it couldn’t go on like this forever , so we decided to go to a specialised doctor.

I went to the doctor and he sent me for a bunch of tests but they still couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me and why I got chronicle bladder infection all the time. After about a year they thought they knew what was wrong. They though that I had a blister on my left kidney which caused the bladder infections. They told me that if I could live with it I should because it is unnecessary to operate ,but if it keeps making me sick or it gets worse then they would do further tests.

I left it for about 2 years, but then it started to really bother me and it made me sick all the time. It would get so bad that I couldn’t walk or do anything physical. We then went back to the doctor for more tests. The first test they did was a Cystoscopy and then they did test where they drew moisture out of my kidneys to check  the fluid levels.

They then discovered that I had 3 KIDNEYS ! The 3rd kidney was at its last stage of kidney disease and they had to remove it.  It was a very big operation but at least i have my 2 normal Kidneys now.

I love you guys!

My top winter must haves.

Uncategorized

So in South-Africa it is speedy turning into winter and I think most of us are not really ready for the new season to begin. Winter is my favourite season of the year and I love it so much. Being able to cuddle up under a blanket and having an excuse to drink lots of steamy hot chocolate is always a bonus. So here are my top winter must haves.

Jean jackets

A jean jacket is definitely a staple item in my closet throughout the year but is especially great in the winter times. It is a great item for layering and goes with almost everything and every style. It can be dressed up and dressed down and it is just really worth investing in one.

Ankle booties

Ankle faux stade tan booties has been a “wear everyday item” for me since last winter and is still one of my favourites. It makes every average outfit look 10 times cuter and makes you look like you actually thought about what you are going to wear.

Ugs

Yes I know a lot of you won’t agree with me on this one and yes I know its not a fashion statement anymore , but that NOT why its one of my top winter must haves. Since 2010 those fluffy “slipper like” shoes have been one of my favourite heat givers in my closet. I am one of those people who are always freezing and my Ugs have gotten me through a lot of cold winter. They are not something that I would normally wear out in public but is definitely a great cozy winters afternoon chill and cuddle item.

Hoody

This is such an obvious one and I think everyone knows it and wears it , but I’m not talking about an average hoody. Im talking about stylish hoodies. A hoody is actually quite easy to dress up if you just know how to. There are a lot of inspiration ideas on how to style up your hoodies on Pinterest and We heart it . If I were you I would go and invest some money into some nice quality hoodies since they are cozy and can be styled up when needed.

I hope you guys enjoyed this weeks posts.

Please feel free email or instagram dm me with any blog post requests.

10 things I can’t live without !

Things about me

Hi guys, I hope everyone is having a great week!

For todays blog post I thought I would tell you guys all about the things I seriously can’t live without.

Coffee

Yeah I guess a lot of people can’t live without coffee but I seriously can’t. Since I was little I loved my coffee ( yes I know little children are probably not supposed to actually drink coffee but hey we all have our things). There is no better way than to start a new day with a hot cup of coffee and I mean coffee dates are probably one of the best things on earth!

Family

Yes Im such a family girl. Mamma’s girl , daddy’s girl ex. I love them so much and I would not be able to live without them at all. They are the rocks that keeps me standing and gets me through all the hard times. I honestly think I have the best parents on earth and I couldn’t thank them enough for everything that they do for me !

My phone

Short and sweet. Most people can’t live without their phones to be honest.

Make-up

I mean I could probably live without it but it would suck and I wouldn’t want to. Im not a girl who thinks I need make-up to be beautiful. Everyone is beautiful and no one should have to feel that they need make-up to be beautiful, but I just seriously love trying out new looks and putting on make-up.

Fashion

Again this is such a girly thing to say, but I AM such a girly girl. I actually don’t like shopping ( weird hey ? seeing as though Im a girl) but no I really don’t. I like getting new clothes and expanding my wardrobe, but shopping ? Haha walking around for hours and having to try everything on makes me so tired , but yes I love dressing up and I love exploring new fashion ideas.

Food

I am a TOTAL foodie. I am that girl that is always scrolling through pinterest just to find some new recipes ( and just to look at food ). I actually love cooking and baking since I find it very calming.

Dancing

I have been dancing since I was 2 so I’m pretty much addicted to it and whenever I don’t dance for a while I tend to get very down in the dumps. I love my dance studio, teacher and all the girls I dance with so much. I dance everyday of the week and for loads of hours so I’m always with my girls and that seriously makes me so happy.

Homeschooling

I was in a normal public school until Gr 9 , but since I dance , sing and  do acting so much school just got a little to much. I started missing a lot of school and it stressed me out so much. So I decided to start homeschooling. I do my homeschooling through Cambridge and I seriously love it. It gives me the freedom to spend more time on the things that I love.

Social media/ The internet

I think this is something that a lot of the people around the world wouldn’t be able to live without. In the past couple of years the social media industry has exploded into this huge new world that everyone loves. according to the site Social Media Today, teenagers spend around 9 hours everyday on social media ( I mean wow! ) I don’t think I’m on it so much but it definitely takes up a lot of time and I would be able to live without the internet because it is the platform where I can connect with you guys! ( and I have to do a lot of school work online too-haha )

The App We heart it

Technically this counts as a form of social media , but I don’t care. I love this app SO SO much. It gives me inspiration , quotes, fashion ideas and it gives me the background pictures of my Instagram quote page Dis.waar , which you guys should totally go check out.

Well there you have it ! My top 10 things i can’t live without.

Talsaai- The most amazing place on earth.

Memories

We recently had to sell our beloved beach house and this is probably one of the saddest things that has ever happened to me to be honest. Our beach house was located in Heroldsbay, George, South-Africa. It was the perfect holiday home and when I say home I mean it i the way you would say something feels like home. That house made every single person who visited there feel as if they were home.

That place takes up such a big space in my heart and I absolutely loved it to death and I always will. Thinking of someone else living in there breaks my heart and i’m so jealous of them getting  to spend a part of their lives living there.

The first time I visited ‘Talsaai” I was only 5 weeks old and ever since then “Talsaai” became my second home. We spend most December months waking up to the view of a breathtakingly big ocean and struggling to find a single signal. For me that beach house called ” Talsaai” gives me memories of love , laughter , beautiful sunrises over a deep blue ocean and families coming together as one. Oh and lets not forget to thank Lucy our lovely house ghost for always keeping us on the edge of our seats and entertaining us throughout the long holiday months.

But most of all I just want to say thanks to that amazing place for giving me so much memories to hold on to and to take with me into the future that lies ahead.

May we make loads of new memories.

5.Revlon volume and length magnified mascara AND Rimmel London Scandaleyes

Both of these mascaras are GREAT and there is no other word to describe it. I have been using the Rimmel London Scandaleyes mascara since I started wearing make-up and I truly love it. The Revlon volume and length  mascara is a bit more on the expensive side but is still affordable. I only recently started using the Revlon volume and length mascara but it has really crept into my heart and is one of my daily make-up essentials.

My top 3 favourite places in the world.

Uncategorized

I live in South-Africa which yes is a beautiful country with all its vibrant and colourful aspects. Our country has one of the seven wonders of the world ( Table mountain-CapeTown) and has our beloved Kruger National Park which is one of our tourism attraction and yes of course one of my favourite places in the world is in my beautiful country but there are a few other ones that I’m also completely involve with.

Cape Town

Cape town would definitely be my first words when someone asks me where my favourite place in the world is. It is absolutely gorgeous with all the colors and unique aspects such as Robin Island where one of our nations best leader Nelson Mandela was in the jail for 27 years. Cape town just has this amazing vibe to it. My favourite coffee shop in Cape town would have to be  Truth Coffee . The student life in Cape Town is mind-blowing and the poeple is always so kind.

Budapest

I visited Budapest in 2013 and I can honestly say that Budapest has completely won my heart. All the old building has walls that tells so many stories. The architectural designs in Budapest is breathtaking. The food is incredible with all the sorts of stews you can imagine . When I was in Budapest we visited a lot of their museums and as a person who loves history I can definitely say that they are one of the countries who should be mentioned and visited more often.

Lesotho

Since I visited Lesotho for the first time in 2009 I was absolutely hooked. It is a small country in the middle of South Africa but it is indeed its own country. This place is just one of my favourite places to go on holiday. We usually go in winter time when it is snowing there and since it doesn’t snow in South-Africa it is an amazing experience to have. We always stay at the cutest little farm called Wyndford Holiday Farm. That place just gives you such a cozy and warm feeling and serves the most wonderful foods. When we go to Lesotho we usually go to Afriski (one of the best known ski resorts) to go skiing which is so much fun.

There are definitely a billion places that I still want to go visit. These are just my top 3 favourite places that I have visited so far and that has made a great impression on me.

Hope you enjoyed

Love Carmen
